Looking for extra resources in addition to your child's preschool experience to help prepare them for kindergarten? Or does your child need a little extra help once they have started elementary school? Then this is the place for you. ABC Reading Adventure is a program for young learners to reinforce early literacy skills and reading concepts in a fun, interactive environment.

From the first time reader to the more advanced reader each class will be multi-sensory allowing your child to see, hear, touch and move as they build their reading foundation. Incorporating hands on manipulatives, and various reading and writing programs that include Orton-Gillingham, ​Wilson, Project Read and Handwriting Without Tears.  Lessons are geared towards each age group and individual student's skills.

Early Phonics, Reading and Writing for Young Learners

Ages 3-5

Reading Readiness Program! 

Early phonics and handwriting skills will be taught during each class using The Handwriting Without Tears program and various multi-sensory activities.  Each session incorporates all letters/sounds to develop reading skills. If students are ready, blending CVC words and sight words will be introduced.  A fun interactive class for all! 

 

 

Time: 1 hour small group, private and

semi-private classes available

Kindergarten

Phonics and phonemic awareness skills will be taught while learning the beginning concepts of reading – sight words, words families, blends and much more. Each class will have a multi-sensory activity as well as incorporating the Handwriting Without Tears program. Each student will be evaluated to assess their individual level.

 

 

Time: 1 hour private and semi-private classes available

Grades 1-8

Students will work on mastering encoding and decoding skills using various reading programs including Orton-Gillingham and Wilson. Comprehension, fluency and writing skills will be developed using multi-sensory activities and various strategies. 

Grades 6th-8th - Homework help with reading and writing and MCAS Prep available.

 

Time: 1 hour private and semi-private classes available

​Bennett Crowell received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Roanoke College, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University and a Licensure in Special Education-Moderate Disabilities at Northeastern University. She began her teaching career at the Brookwood School in Manchester by the Sea. Bennett has worked in the Wellesley Public Schools and at The Gifford School in Weston. Since 2005, she has worked for the Scituate Public Schools at Hatherly and Cushing Elementary Schools as a Special Education Teacher. Bennett is certified in Orton-Gillingham and Handwriting Without Tears.
